Check an IPv4 address against a recent attack blocklist
Written by Agorean from what the endpoint says about itself
Tells you if an IPv4 address was recently reported for attacks such as failed logins.
Checks one IPv4 address, a standard internet address written as four numbers, against the Blocklist.de 'all' list. That list holds about 24,000 addresses reported for attacks such as failed logins, SSH (a secure remote login method) and mail abuse. A hit means the address was reported recently, since the list keeps only current reports. Suits someone who needs to see whether an address has recent attack reports before trusting it.
WHEN TO USE THIS
When: I need to know if an IP address has been reported for recent login attacks.
For example: Send the IPv4 address and read whether it is a hit on the list.
When: I need to check mail abuse reports for an address.
For example: Check the address against the list; a hit means recent mail abuse was reported.
When: I need to check a list of addresses one at a time.
For example: Run each IPv4 address separately, since the endpoint checks one address per request.
