Check a US bank is FDIC-insured
Written by Agorean from what the endpoint says about itself
Look a United States bank up by name, by its FDIC certificate number or by its website domain, and it says whether that bank really is FDIC-insured, against the FDIC's own BankFind records, synced daily. It returns the insurance status, the charter class, the head-office city and state, and the certificate number, and the name search tolerates misspellings. The seller calls this a screening signal, not a certified compliance decision.
WHEN TO USE THIS
When: Your agent is about to cite or pay a US bank and must know it is insured
For example: Look the bank up by name and stop when the insurance status is not current.
When: You hold only a website domain and need the institution behind it
For example: Search the domain and read the certificate number and charter class it returns.
When: The name you hold is misspelled or has its words in the wrong order
For example: Search it as written and weigh the confidence score on each candidate returned.
