Estimates whether a domain accepts mail sent to any address.
It estimates, without SMTP probing, whether a domain accepts mail to any address. It works from provider defaults — Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 usually reject unknown users, while many small hosts and Cloudflare Email Routing accept all — plus wildcard DNS and MX shape. It is meant to help you interpret a 'deliverable: likely' result.
WHEN TO USE THIS
When: I need to know if a domain accepts mail to any address
For example: Send the domain to get an estimate based on its MX shape and DNS.
When: I need to interpret a 'deliverable: likely' result
For example: Check the catch-all hint alongside it to see if that result might be a false positive.
When: I want to avoid an SMTP probe against the domain
For example: Use provider defaults and DNS shape instead of probing the mail server directly.
