Gives you current gas prices for Ethereum and Base, in Gwei.
It returns current gas prices for Ethereum mainnet and Base: the base fee, the priority fee, and EIP-1559 estimates, all in Gwei, as JSON. No API key is required. It is meant for checking gas costs before transacting, estimating transaction cost, comparing L1 versus L2 fees, and timing onchain actions.
WHEN TO USE THIS
When: I need current gas prices before sending a transaction
For example: Call it and read the base and priority fee.
When: I need to compare Ethereum mainnet fees against Base
For example: Read both chains' fields in the same response.
When: I need to estimate what a transaction will cost
