Checks whether a third-party x402 endpoint is alive and correctly set up before you pay it.
Checks a third-party x402 endpoint before you pay it: a bounded preflight fetches its payment contract, checks reachability and response latency, and validates its accepts list, network, price and expiry against the x402 spec. Returns a signed observation receipt with an observed_at timestamp you can cite. No payment is made during the check, and it covers one endpoint per call.
WHEN TO USE THIS
When: I'm about to pay an x402 endpoint and want to know it's actually alive first
For example: Send its URL to get a signed observation receipt before you pay.
When: I need proof, with a timestamp, that an endpoint answered correctly at some point
For example: Cite the observed_at timestamp on the receipt as evidence.
When: I want to check that the endpoint's price and network match what I was told
For example: Have it validate the accepts list, network, price and expiry against the x402 spec.
When: I need to check several endpoints, one at a time
For example: Call it once per endpoint URL, since it checks a single endpoint per call.
