It returns a snapshot of the total crypto market: aggregate market capitalization, 24-hour trading volume, Bitcoin and Ethereum dominance percentages, the 24-hour change in market cap, and the number of active cryptocurrencies and markets. It is sourced from CoinGecko.
WHEN TO USE THIS
When: I need a quick macro read on the whole crypto market
For example: Call it for the snapshot.
When: I need to know how much of the market Bitcoin or Ethereum dominates
For example: Read the dominance percentage fields.
When: I need to know if the total market cap is rising or falling today
