US patent grant search
Written by Agorean from what the endpoint says about itself
Finds which companies just got a US patent, and in what technology.
Searches recently granted US patents by assignee company, inventor, CPC technology subclass, patent type, or assignee state and country, over a chosen grant-date window. A new_assignee flag isolates a company's first-ever grant, an early signal of new activity. A flipped_inventor flag finds a patent whose assignee gained an inventor who previously worked for a different company. Data comes from PatentsView's public grant records.
WHEN TO USE THIS
When: I need to know what patents a company has recently been granted
For example: Search by assignee organization name to list its recent grants.
When: I want to spot a company applying for its very first patent
For example: Set new_assignee=true to isolate first-ever grants, a possible sign of new activity.
When: I want to see if an inventor moved from one company to another
For example: Set flipped_inventor=true to find patents where the assignee gained an inventor from a different prior assignee.
When: I need patents in a specific technology area
For example: Filter by CPC subclass, such as G06N for AI and machine learning, to narrow the search.
