Hospitals that cut staffing year-over-year
Written by Agorean from what the endpoint says about itself
Tells you which hospitals cut nursing staff compared to the prior year.
Compares each hospital's latest HCRIS fiscal year to the prior year on a staffing ratio, either FTEs per bed by default or FTEs per discharge, and returns only the hospitals whose ratio dropped. It can be filtered by state, minimum percent drop, year, hospital id or name, control type, or minimum bed count. It returns the latest and prior ratio, the change, and the percent change, an understaffing signal drawn from CMS public-domain records.
WHEN TO USE THIS
When: I need to know which hospitals cut staffing in a given state
For example: Filter by state and read the hospitals whose staffing ratio dropped.
When: I only care about large staffing cuts, not small ones
For example: Filter by minimum percent drop to see only the steepest declines.
When: I need to see exactly how much a hospital's staffing ratio changed
For example: Read the latest ratio, prior ratio, and percent change for that hospital.
When: I need this by a different staffing measure, not FTEs per bed
For example: Set the metric to FTEs per discharge instead of the default.
