DNS change detection
Written by Agorean from what the endpoint says about itself
Tells you which DNS records changed since your last check.
It snapshots a domain's A, AAAA, MX, NS, TXT, and CAA records and compares them with the snapshot from your previous call, kept for 90 days. It reports which record types changed between the two snapshots. It is for calling on a schedule to get alerts about DNS hijacks and misconfigurations.
WHEN TO USE THIS
When: I need to know if a domain's DNS records changed since I last checked
For example: Call it again on the same domain to see which record types changed.
When: I need to watch a domain for a DNS hijack
For example: Schedule regular calls on the domain so an unexpected NS or A change gets caught.
When: I need to catch a DNS misconfiguration after a change
For example: Compare snapshots right after you edit records to confirm they changed as intended.
When: I need to check several record types at once
For example: Read the A, AAAA, MX, NS, TXT, and CAA comparison in one call instead of six.
