TCP port scanner

Scans a host's ports and tells you which are open, and what's running on them.
Give it a hostname or IP address and a port range, and it tries connecting to each port. For every port that answers, it reports whether the port is open or blocked, which service is likely running there, such as a web server or SSH, and what software version it detected. You must only scan hosts you own or have permission to scan; the tool does not check that for you.

When: I need to know which ports are open on a host I'm responsible for

For example: Read the detected service and version for each open port.
